#FreebieFriday: Speech Pals /h/

Posted by

Welcome back for #FreebieFriday! And if you’re working in private practice, it’s the last week of sessions before the holiday break! That means zero time for planning/prep in between buying presents, decorating, and cooking yummy food. Don’t worry, we’re here to help!

What is it?

Today we are sharing another product from our Speech Pals – Mega Bundle by Worldwide Speech. We’ve shown you our “r” Speech Pals ( Speech Pals: /r/ blends, Speech Pals: /ɝ,ɚ/ freebie, and Speech Pals: Prevocalic /r/), and our  Speech Pals: ch, j by Worldwide Speech! Now we want to branch out to another new sound: Speech Pals /h/!

Repetition is the key to success in the production of new phonemes. So with Speech Pals /h/, the phoneme is targeted 58 times in each of 2 sets! The characters in Speech Pals are diverse and often find themselves in humorous situations. Also, various parts of speech are represented by the target words, rather than being the usual nouns that are typically used in articulation therapy materials.

Each target sound is represented by a main character (whose name includes that target), plus 9 target words. Each word is in the form of a colorful image that will “fly-in” from various directions, keeping children focused and engaged.

Contents:

  • PowerPoint Presentation with animations. (PDF available upon request)
  • 2 phoneme sets of Initial /h/
  • Each phoneme set contains:
    • 10 target words (character + 9 words)
    • 9 short sentences (2 target words each)
    • 10 long sentences (3 target words each)

Who is it for?

Speech Pals: /h/ is a no-prep must-have for articulation therapy, either in-person or virtual, for both readers and non-readers alike. You and your students will love these fun PowerPoint slides as they practice the speech sounds /h/ in the initial positions, at the word level, through short sentences, and on to long sentences with multiple targets.

How to use it?

Using this product couldn’t be easier! All you have to do is open PowerPoint, click “Present / Slide Show” mode and you’re good to go! Click for each image to “fly-in” or to transition to the next page. These transitions keep students engaged and attentive. Students can read or imitate the target words and sentences. This PowerPoint presentation can be used for individual and group therapy, during in-person and telepractice sessions. Check out a sneak peek below!
